Our diversity and inclusion vision is to be 'the most inclusive retailer where people love to work and shop'. To fulfil this we realise that we need to ensure every colleague has the support they need to be the best they can be. This is why back in 2010 we were one of the first FTSE 100 companies to introduce a policy to support our colleagues who juggle their work with caring responsibilities. We appreciate this is something that is relevant to a large number of our colleagues and so we wanted to make sure that they are able to manage both of their roles with the full support from work.
This is now our sixth year of partnering with Carers UK. Throughout Carers Week 2016 we will be working to raise awareness with a number of colleagues from our stores, depots and store support centres, who are also carers sharing their stories online. We will also welcome carers’ organisations into stores to share information with customers and colleagues about the carer services and support available in the local area, which will be invaluable.
As the population grows and life expectancy continues to increase, it is likely that many more people will find themselves carers at some point in their lives so it's important we as an employer offer our support so they can take on these additional personal responsibilities.
