'Carers are among the most sacrificial and unsung heroes of our society. In a variety of extremely difficult circumstances and at considerable financial and personal cost, they give of themselves to an extent which most of us would find it hard to imagine. I am therefore delighted to give my support to Carers Week promoted by local charities the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, Carers Northern Ireland, Macmillan and Parkinsons. I hope that it has the effect of bringing the role of carers into sharper focus - not only during this week, but in the weeks to come.' Allan Bresland, MLA
'I have worked with carers since elected in 2001 and am only too aware of their selfless dedication to the people they care for. I would like to see more social acknowledgement of the work carried out by carers and wholeheartedly support Carers Week.' Arlene Foster, MLA
'I fully support the carers in all their dedicated work for those in need. They help to bring comfort to those who are less fortunate.' Samuel Gardiner, MBE JP MLA
'As my family are a family involved in caring I fully support your campaign.' Robin Newton, MLA
'I have signed the House of Commons, Early Day Motion on Carers tabled by Tony Baldry MP. I have also made representations directly to the Minister for Health in Northern Ireland requesting a reform of the care and suppor system in order for carers to be able to access support they deserve at times of crisis.' Margaret Ritchie MP, MLA
'The contribution of carers to the welfare of our community must not be underestimated or undervalued. A way must be found to support them in their role and enable them to have a life of their own and enjoy quality time with relatives and friends. I would encourage the Executive, in these days of economic constraint, to explore ways in which this issue might be addressed.' Ken Robinson, MLA
'Thank you for all that you do for everyone, a debt of gratitude that can never be fully repaid.' Alderman Jim Shannon MP, MLA
