Join John McCaughie from the Living Memory Association to reminisce and share memories. 2.30-3.30pm George Washington Browne Room, Central Library As part of National Carers Week we are hosting an event with John McCaughie from the Living Memory Association. Using reminiscence techniques to unlock memories is something the LMA has been advocating for over thirty years. Bringing older people together to share memories is a way of keeping people feeling valued and involved in their community. Reminiscence can be particularly effective when working with people with dementia. People with dementia often have short-term memory problems but given the right prompts can remember a treasure trove of memories from the past. John has been involved with the LMA for 15 years, delivering training in reminiscence skills and in recording and interview technique. The LMA is about appreciating and valuing the contribution that ordinary people make on a day to day basis to their families and communities.
