Currently 3 million people in the UK juggle paid work with unpaid caring responsibilities, that’s 1 in 9 people in any workforce. However many carers are forced to give up their jobs to care due to a number of different factors including but not limited to – flexibility, lack of understanding from employers, care costs and quality. At the county council, we want to make sure people feel represented and supported in the workplace. This drop in event, running from 11am - 2pm, will raise awareness of the huge range of useful resources, available to carers working within Leicestershire County Council, and beyond to make sure any working carers feel supported. There will be representatives available for people to speak to, as well as materials for people to take home from: •Assistive Technology •Housing •Employee Welfare •Local Area Coordinators •Voluntary Action South Leicestershire •Communities •Young Carers •Carers Assessment Officers
