Norfolk Carers has teamed up with photographer Hannah Hutchins, herself a carer, to present a photo exhibition celebrating the lives of unpaid carers in Norfolk. There are almost 100,000 unpaid carers in Norfolk; that's nearly 1 in 9 of the population. Anyone can find themselves looking after someone else, at any time. People often say they find it hard to think of themselves as a carer; they're a husband, a wife, a son, a daughter, a friend or neighbour to the person they're looking after - they often don't realise there is support available to them. Norfolk Carers hopes the photo exhibition will raise the profile of unpaid carers in Norfolk and highlight some of the support available. Photographer Hannah Hutchins, who, for the past year has been working for BAFTA, took the photographs of carers which also include photos of her grandma. Hannah spends at least one night a week caring for her grandparents, who both suffer from dementia and other health conditions. Hannah says the project is close to her heart; "It has been a real privilege to meet other unpaid carers, hear their stories and photograph them. Being a carer is more common than most people think and I hope these photos will help people realise that many other people are in a similar situation and face similar challenges."
