Local & Family History Day for Carers.

Gateshead Central Library - Monday 12th June, 10 a.m. – 12 noon Local & Family History for Carers. FREE introductory session. In partnership with Gateshead Carers, Local Studies staff at the Central Library are offering adult carers this free introduction to local & family history. Give yourself a break and relax whilst the experts guide you through historic maps, photographs and other resources to get you started. You can also join the library if you’re not already a member. Staff from Gateshead Carers will be on hand if you’d like a chat about how they can support you in your caring role. FREE. Book in advance, limited availability.

Carers 'Books on Prescription' Launch

Books on Prescription: Carers Book List launch at Gateshead Central Library FREE just turn up.Tuesday 13th June, 10 a.m. – 12 noon The national Books on Prescription schemes provide self-help titles for people with mild mental health issues, dementia, as well as titles to support young people. Gateshead Carers have been working in partnership with the Library Service to provide a new scheme of books, this time for carers. Come along to see some of the new titles, pick up a book list for yourself or someone you know. Tea, coffee and cake available.

Party in the Park

Party in the Park 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saltwell Park (next to Pet’s Corner) Gateshead FREE for all. Bring your family including your dog! Join in the fun, live music, ‘Scrufts’ dog show, information stands and lots of well-being activities on offer. Find out about our short break activities, including our allotment and art group. Why not treat yourself to a shoulder massage or henna tattoo! As it is our 21st Anniversary this year, we are planning to make our event more interactive and to create even more of a party atmosphere. Our event has been running for 5 years now so has built up a great reputation and is always well attended by carers and their families. We will have a stage for our live music performances by students from Gateshead Music Academy as well as being joined by Food Nation and various local charities and support groups. In addition, our carer short break groups will be demonstrating their talents with our allotment stall, art and crafts stalls and Created by Carers stand. In addition, we will be having an information tent ’Care to Know’ and an information sharing tent ‘Care to Share’ where we will have short talks/demonstrations by organisations. We look forward to welcoming you and your family!

Carers Week at Meddygfa Minafon

We have local charities attending who are involved in helping the elderly and carers. Local support groups, as well as information on what the surgery will be offering for carers in the future. Leaflets and application forms for carers will be available to fill so they can be registered as carers on the practices system and be referred to an outreach worker for information on any support that would be available for them. And up to date information for people who are already on our systems as carers

We will have talks on - Fire safety, The New Self - Assessments, Social Interaction and the Recovery College 11.35-12pm - We will have topic groups - where Carers can learn more about - Dementia, Mental Health, Mindfulness and CAR 12-12.30pm- a Light Lunch will be provided Also there will be stands for many organisations like - Reading Crossroads, Assistive Tech, Mencap, Berkshire Age UK, CAR and many more 14-14.45pm - There will be Dance and Relaxation

Pinpoint carers' week event

A carers week event for parents/carers of children with additional needs and or disabilities. Come along and have a well earned cup of tea, a slice or two of cake and enjoy some relaxing activities.

Relaunch of Emergency Card Scheme, Information and Pamper Session

Our launch event for carers of all ages will take place on Saturday 10th June 2017 from 11am – 3pm at Ysgol Gymraeg Caerffili, Pontygwindy Road, Caerphilly CF83 3HG. The day will be a celebration of the important work that our carers do and will include food, activities, entertainment and, most of all, fun! On Monday 12th June 2017 we will be visiting local supermarkets promoting support for carers and hopefully meeting with carers we don’t yet know. We will also be attending the North Resource Centre in Rhymney on the morning of Wednesday 14th June 2017 to do the same. On Tuesday 13th June 2017, from 10am – 2pm , we will relaunch our carers’ emergency card, as well as having information, advice and assistance about other resources available to carers at Shappelles, New Cottage, The Boot, Maesycwmmer, Hengoed CF82 7PR. We will be providing food and refreshments and we will have local students attending to pamper you on the day. Please let us know if you would like to come. The week will finish with a relaxing afternoon tea on Wednesday 14th June 2017 from 1:30pm – 3:30pm. We have booked The New Forge, Brynhoward Terrace, Oakdale, Blackwood NP12 0LG. Please contact us to book a place, as spaces are limited.

We will have increased Carer Awareness Displays at both Practice sites during and around Carers Week. We hope to have at least one other event aimed at Carers during Carers week.

Carers Week Celebration Event

Our main event will be held the week after Carers Week this year on Sat 24th June from 1 - 3pm. We are doing a month of outreach where will be out in different rural locations trying to identify carers in each area of Shetland. We will be holding our main celebration event towards the end of the month where carers can come together, find out about relevant services and support, meet other carers, have a cuppa and some homebakes, listen to live traditional music and have an Indian Head Massage or a manicure or hand massage or partake in craft activities.

The BIG event

The BIG EVENT. You’ll find us on Briggate (near Debenhams in Leeds City Centre) all day with information and advice for anyone caring for someone of any age, be it 1 month or 100 years old. Why not join Grace in her cycling challenge or just come along to cheer her on? There’ll be fun and games to be had as well as prizes to be won! We are also taking part in ‘The Great Get Together’, inspired by Jo Cox, so come along to rate the cake making abilities of our staff and volunteers and share in the fun judging how well we have done (or not).

Local organisations will be hosting stalls with lots of useful information and advice.
