Stirling Carers Centre AGM

Wednesday 14th June 12pm - 2pm Golden Lion Hotel, Stirling Stirling Carers Centre invites carers and professionals to attend the Annual General Meeting of Carers Forum Stirling Area (Stirling Carers Centre). The focus of this year’s presentations will be the introduction of the Carers Act and what it means for carers, organisations and the government. Exhibitors include Town Break (dementia support services), Living it Up Forth Valley (health & wellbeing website), and MECS (independent living aids). Carers Week - Eat and greet

Join us to share a burger and bun in the sun as we hold our annual rooftop BBQ. The theme of this years Carers Week is – Building Carer Friendly Communities and we want to find out a little more about you. We would like everyone to bring a dish that reminds them of their background, childhood or history and then listen to you tell us what it means and why it is important to you. So if spotted dick and custard evokes memories of childhood, ackee saltfish, samosas, ajiaco or paella we would love to try it and share your stories. The BBQ will be lit at 17:00 and the event will last until about 19:30 or whenever the sausages run out...

Tuesday 13th June, 7.30-9.30pm. A free opportunity to try drumming with drumNorwich, and relax during a drum journey/visualisation. Drumming releases endorphins, enkephalins and alpha waves in the brain, which create general feelings of wellbeing and euphoria. You don’t need your own drum, or to have any musical ability. Talk: Learning to Live Well with Uncertainty

Tuesday 13th June, 12-1pm. A talk to help you understand the term ‘ambiguous loss’, and provide strategies for managing uncertainty. This talk is in conjunction with the charity Norfolk Carers. During Carers Week 2017, Chloë Swinton is offering a number of free opportunities of support to unpaid Carers in Norwich and Norfolk. Chloë is a qualified & BACP Registered Counsellor and has over 15 years professional experience of therapeutically supporting children and adults through uncertainty. She works with Carers who are affected by the ambiguous loss of a loved one who may be physically present but psychologically absent, for example with a life-limiting illness, dementia, stroke or brain injury.
