Are you caring for someone living with Dementia? Join Wendy Brewin from the sensory trust on Tuesday 11th June 2019 from 2.30pm - 3.30pm at the Mannamead Wellbeing Hub to discover wellbeing approaches through sowing seeds or making butterfly and bird feeders to help encourage more wildlife into your garden and support your wellbeing. “You can’t pour from an empty cup” is a phrase we use in our work with family carers of people living with dementia, to highlight the risks of ignoring personal health. Anxiety, depression and many other problems will manifest as physical forms of poor health if ignored. At Sensory Trust we use nature-based approaches as coping mechanisms to help with such problems. Simple, quick, often free resources can be used individually or with loved ones and other family members to increase self-confidence, levels of happiness and social connections. Learn more about the Creative Spaces for Carers and then join in a simple quick nature-based activity. To book a place please call 01752 201890. You must book a place in advance as we will not be accepting anyone who comes along on the day without a booking.

Have you added your event for Carers Week?

You can now register your event on the Carers Week map for 2019. Last year there were more than 1,200 events added to our Carers Week Map. This year, Carers Week is in its 25th year and so we hope to see many more amazing events and activities for carers registered on our website!

No matter how big or small your event is, your activity will make a difference to carers in your local area.  Your event could be an information stand in your local hospital or it could be the launch of a new charter for carers in your workplace, or even a coffee morning with the local carers' association. Every activity counts!

If you were unable to find your area or any events listed, it may be that local organisations are busy planning their activities but they have not yet added them to our website.
