Recognising the Needs of the Carer

Our Fifth Annual Conference to highlight the needs of the carer in an acute hospital setting. The conference will discuss support services and with the input of carers and others help to develop an effective Carers' Pathway; to improve services.
Organised by University Hospitals Birmingham - The Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull the event will take place from 09.30am to 16.00 hours. Sharing the Caring & Pride in our Carers

For the third year running Carers Trust Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk are hosting the Sharing the Caring and Pride in our Carer Awards. This is a opportunity to celebrate the fantastic work of countless unpaid carers of all ages in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and Norfolk.

This year we are opening up the nominations to include Norfolk to allow those family carers we work with, a chance to say ‘Thank You’ too. The results will be announced at a ceremony in Peterborough on Wednesday, 13 June during national Carers Week 2018 (11-17 June).

This will be run in partnership with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, Peterborough City Council and Cambridgeshire County Council. There are over 78,000 family carers in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and 100,000 family carers in Norfolk. In the UK there are over 6.5 million family carers. Carers Trust Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk supports adult carers in by providing Carer’s Assessments, Family Carer’s Prescriptions, the What If Plan? for emergency care planning, information, advice and guidance, respite care, groups and peer support. It supports young carers and young adult carers aged from 5-25, arranging trips and activities to give them a break from caring and helping them through education and into employment.

Choir and Cake for Carers

This is a drop-in event for carers. 10 am to 12 noon. Silver Singers Choir will be coming to sing to us for Carers Week. You can join in and sing along if you would like. There will also be cake and plenty of opportunities to chat to both staff and other like minded carers. Information will be available about a variety of services and events that are available to support you in your caring role. Also, meeting with other carers provides opportunities to share information, motivate each other and inspire one another to cope and manage caring roles. Newcastle Carers Carer Friendly Communities Award

The Carer Friendly Communities Awards are hosted by Newcastle Carers. Newcastle Carers is a local, independent charity providing support to unpaid carers who care for a family member or friend who is ill, disabled, has mental health problems or is misusing drugs or alcohol. The Carer Friendly Communities Awards recognise people or places who go that extra mile to support carers. Everyone considered for an award is nominated by a carer. This is an exciting opportunity to receive recognition for the support they provide. The Award ceremony is being held at:- The Bewick Hall, Newcastle City Library, 33 New Bridge Street West, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8AX on Thursday, 14th June, 2018 ATTENDANCE IS BY INVITATION OR PRIOR ARRANGEMENT This will include time to network and a buffet lunch 12:00pm-1:00pm with the awards ceremony commencing at 1:00pm.
