Free Music & Dance Workshops for Older People

Arts charity Creative Arts East run free regular workshops across Norfolk that help older people (including carers, those living with a dementia and other long-term health conditions) participate in high-quality creative activities. They have a hugely positive impact in terms of improving wellbeing and decreasing loneliness and isolation amongst our participants, who represent some of the most vulnerable people in our society. The June sessions will be run by local musicians who will lead our groups in Rock & Roll and Blues music-making sessions! The sessions will be relaxed, fun, inclusive and engaging for all abilities, with no prior experience necessary. Its about connecting with others in the room, having fun and making music together, rather than learning instruments in a structured environment. The sessions during Carers Week are as follows: Tuesday 11th June, 1-3pm: Womens Institute Hall, Church Plain, Wells-next-the-Sea, NR23 1EQ Friday 14th June, 10am-12pm: St Mary's Community Hall, Church Street, Attleborough, NR17 2AH Friday 14th June, 2-4pm: Dereham Meeting Point, Jubilee Suite, St Withburga Lane, Dereham, NR19 1ED We run the sessions twice a month in 6 different locations across Norfolk: Wells-next-the-Sea, Dereham, North Walsham, Thetford, Attleborough and Watton. we are always looking for new participants and volunteers to join in.

Have you added your event for Carers Week?

You can now register your event on the Carers Week map for 2019. Last year there were more than 1,200 events added to our Carers Week Map. This year, Carers Week is in its 25th year and so we hope to see many more amazing events and activities for carers registered on our website!

No matter how big or small your event is, your activity will make a difference to carers in your local area.  Your event could be an information stand in your local hospital or it could be the launch of a new charter for carers in your workplace, or even a coffee morning with the local carers' association. Every activity counts!
