Two mindfulness sessions are running on Tuesday 12th June and available for employees who are carers.

On Thursday (June 14) there will be pop-up stalls, including help and advice from Supporting Carers in the Workplace, Voluntary Service Aberdeen and Sue Ryder.

An afternoon of fun and relaxation for those who care for others - all are welcome to join a diverse range of charities who serve the community. From massage therapy to laughter yoga, carnival mask making or having your nails done to information on the different types of support that is available. Come down and join us at the Disability Resource Centre between 2pm and 6pm on Friday 15th June. The event will be opened by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant at 2pm.

Over 70 people attended the Carers Awareness event at Winchester House on Tuesday 12th June. We had a talk from Maggie Bennett about caring for people with dementia, speakers from GD Legal Services talked about the importance of having a Lasting Power of Attorney and how this protects both carers and the cared for person. Helen from IWC answered a range of financial questions and we had a demonstration from Telecare and Carers IW Manual Handling trainers. The Living Well team were present to help people understand that even if you were not eligible for Adult Social Care support that the IWC have recognised this and currently fund this team to assist with finding the right support for you.

We Care Campaign is hosting a twitter question and answer session for all carers with the Shadow Minister Barbara Keeley. Carers can ask their questions Thursday 1-2pm using hashtag #ValueCarersQuestions

Baring Primary School is taking part in 3 days of sponsored acts of caring and kindness both at home and at school.

SSSC have created resources about Carers Personal Outcomes including an E-book. The event will share the resources with local practitioners in Health and Social care (including Third sector) and demonstrate how to use these.

For 3 days pupils and staff at Baring Primary School will be completing as many acts of kindness and caring as they can. Caring for our friends, our environment, our teachers and families. Pupils will be sponsored by their families and at the end of the week we will total up all the acts completed at school and at home.
