Theresa May

Rt Hon Theresa May MP, Prime Minister

Carers Week is a fantastic event and an excellent opportunity to both shine a spotlight on the amazing contribution of carers and look at ways to improve their health and wellbeing. I commend the work of the roughly 6.5 million people who provide care to some of our society’s most vulnerable people. The Government is aware that a key issue frequently raised by carers is the impact their role has on their health and wellbeing. I absolutely recognise the importance of looking at how we can support them to stay healthy and connected, and this is why the Carers Action Plan will include ways to support young carers, combat loneliness, and support employers to help carers work more flexibly and stay in work. Once again, I would like to express my appreciation to carers for the important work they do, and wish all those involved a successful Carers Week.
